The history
The memory of the summers spent with my grandmother Anna, amongst
the hills between Moncalieri and Revigliasco where I lived the most
beautiful days of my childhood, was the starting point for the great
change: many years later, I had the idea not only to live in the
countryside, but also to open a business activity and therefore,
to realize my dream of opening a rural tourist facility.
After an extensive research for a suitable area, we found La Tilia
in the summer of 2002: a typical Piedmontese farmstead of the 1700
that rises in a panoramic position, on a hilly plateau.
The name 'la tilia' has two special meanings for us: the first is
sentimental: 'la tiglia' ('la tia') is the farmstead that I've always
heard talking about when I was a child, from my grandfather Oddone,
sold by his father to move his family away from the countryside;
the second is symbolic: the tilia (linden flower) boasts curative,
relaxing properties.
In 2003, the agricultural holding connected to the farmstead was
born, and the restructuring project of the interiors and exterior
spaces began. The works continued until April 2006, date of the
inauguration.
Since then, we have always been learning new things with our work,
and we received an important help from the association WWOOF (www.wwoof.it):
since 2009, we have belonged to this international network for the
placement of youngsters coming from all over the world, who wish
to do a work experience in the countryside, for a certain period
of time.
In the summer 2010, we received a hospitality proposal: a mare (Lady)
and a donkey (Pippo) arrived at La Tilia, and with them, a new adventure
began.
La Tilia represents for us a place where the people that come visit
us feel welcome, benefiting from the tranquillity and relaxing among
the typical areas which are also conceived for children, where they
can live a pleasant experience for a few hours or days, enjoying
a beautiful panorama, tasting the typical dishes prepared with care
and proposed in a simple and natural way. This could be an opportunity
to stop in a corner of the Piedmontese countryside, re-energize
and find those sensations and scents typical of our childhood.
At the moment, we are planning a few new projects...but we'll talk
about them later on...
